This is a series issued in November 1970.  It contains four 6cent stamps.

First stamp is John Robertson Duigan (1882 - 1951) and his younger brother Reginald Charles Duigan (1889 - 1966).  Together these aviators were famous for the first successful flight of an Australian designed and built aeroplane.

Next stamp is Lachlan Macquarie (1761-1824).  Sworn in as the fifth Governor of NSW, he was famous for social reform, exploration and urban development in Australia.

Third is Adam Lindsay Gordon (1833-70), a British-Australian poet, horseman, police officer and politician.

Last in the series is Edward John Eyre (1815-1901), an English land explorer of the Australian continent.
